Exporting objects to a file

In this video, I'll show you how you can export objects to another drawing file. Open the Architectural sample file in the chapter 14 folder. First, I'd like to discuss why you'd like to export objects. This enables collaboration. When you externally reference drawing files. And I'll show you how to do that in another video. But first, we need to learn how to separate a drawing file, such as this architectural plan, into multiple files. The reason for that is that only one person can edit a drawing at a given time. Watch what happens if I try to open this same file all by myself on the computer. I get an alert. This is the same alert another person would get if they tried to open up this same drawing file that's currently in use. They have a choice of opening it, but only as a read-only file. That means they can see it, but they can't edit it. In this case, we don't want to open it read-only. We already have it open. So I'll just say No, and Cancel. We need to establish a relationship…
