Creating layers
- Using layers to control object properties is generally much more efficient than changing object properties on a case by case basis. Open the Architectural3.dwg sample file in the Chapter 11 folder. This drawing has but a single layer, Layer 0. In fact, every drawing has a Layer 0. You can't delete Layer 0 nor can you rename it. However, we can create any number of layers that we need. In this particular project, I anticipate needing a walls layer, doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, kitchen appliances layers. And also a hatch layer. Let's create some of those layers up here. Click Layer Properties or type la for layer and press enter. This opens up a large pallet interface. It's a bit cryptic as it's stands because we're only seeing the first letter of each of these columns. I recommend right-clicking and choosing "Maximize all columns" when you're learning this.
