Creating gradients
In this video we will experiment with the gradient command. Open the plumbing sample file in the chapter eight folder and zoom in. This is actually the water system in my house. I have a wood stove that heats the water and it goes up here in the range boiler. I have a panel on the roof that heats the water also through a heat exchanger. And the water in the range broiler is a source of preheated water that goes in to the electric water heater. So, to make this diagram stand out more, I'd like to insert gradients into these pieces of equipment in these tanks. And that will represent the temperature gradient that goes from cold to hot in the range boiler and in the electric hot water heater. The colder water is at the bottom and the hotter water is at the top. So we can visually depict that using a gradient. You'll find the gradient tool up here underneath the Hatch command. It's actually the Hatch command itself, but it's customized so that it automatically selects the first gradient…
