Creating annotative dimension styles and objects
- In this video we will create an annotative dimension object that appears at different sizes in different scales. Open the Architectural7 sample file in the Chapter 15 folder. Then go to model space by clicking the Model tab. Zoom into the stair and type D Enter, which is a shortcut for the dimension style command. This drawing already comes with an annotative style. Double-click the word Annotative to set that current. You can see that listed right here. Then go to Modify and go to the Fit tab. Normally you would specify the scale of your dimension style here, but because this is an annotative style, the scale is grayed out. The scale will be handled automatically if this is selected, and that's what we want here. Go to Primary Units and change the units from decimal to architectural because we're working with feet and inches in this particular project file. Set the Precision to be the nearest half inch and click OK and Close. Let's make a layer to accommodate the dimensions. Open…
