- [Instructor] As we begin this chapter on survey, let's take a look at one way of automating the process of importing survey data. As surveyors in the field locate features, they are able to input codes that will tell Civil 3D how to draw those features. The way that Civil 3D understands what these codes mean is through something called a linework code set. let's import some data. And when we get to the point where we select a linework code set, I'll start to talk about that in a little more detail. So to get started, I'll go to the insert tab and click import survey data. I'll create a new survey database. I'm going to call this survey three. You can call it really whatever you like. I'll click next.
