What is Autodesk Civil 3D?
- [Instructor] With so many different civil engineering CAD software applications out there, the real questions is what is Autodesk Civil 3D. How does Autodesk Civil 3D differ from all other civil engineering CAD software applications? Simply put, Autodesk Civil 3D is really Autodesk's premier civil engineering and planned production software. And the reason why it is unique is threefold. One, it's an object modeling application. What that means is when you create a civil design object, such as an alignment, you're creating an alignment object in Civil 3D, and this alignment object is just as much a native object to Civil 3D as a line or a circle is in AutoCAD. Now that may not seem like a lot, but it does differ from the other software, which may create a polyline that represents an alignment.
