Understanding parts lists
it's good for us to understand the information that a pipe network needs. You see, a pipe network, as we lay it out, we have to identify the location of the structures and the pipes in between. More importantly, we have to provide the information of what parts we're using, what kind of pipe is it, what kind of structure is it, what style should we use for visualizing the pipe or the structure? And so all of that information as well as a lot of other values such as the Manning's coefficient that is for each pipe. All of these are stored in what's called a parts list and so when we create a pipe network, we simply define or identify what our parts list is. Inside the parts list, all these values are set and then it also allows to work with just a few parts. As you can imagine, there can be tons of parts for storm, sanitary, and all the many types of networks that we would be creating and so the pipe, as well as the structures you use for storm, would vary greatly from what you would use…
