Point creation commands

- [Instructor] Let's take a look at the point creation commands. All points are created pretty much in the same way. We choose a point, then we give an elevation, and then a description. Choosing the appropriate point creation command will be determined by where you want to get your elevation information from, or whether or not you want to interpolate from one point to another. In Civil 3D, on the Home tab, in the Create Ground Data panel, you can click Points, and our first option is the Point Creation Tools. Working from left to right, if we click our down arrow, we'll see the Manual option is the simplest way. As mentioned before, we click a point, we give it a description, and we give it an elevation. Easy enough. If there's an object or a known elevation that we want to reference, we would want to look at some other tools on this tool palette. Let's start here and look at the alignment. We can reference an alignment and give specific stations and offset values. Or, if we have a surface, we can create points on a grid or along a polyline. Just like with the Line and Curve tools, these are named very intuitively.
