Performing a depth check

- [Instructor] Civil 3D has some powerful analysis tools to help you make sure you're pressure network meets certain design requirements. Let's take a look at one of those tools, depth check. So we want to do a depth check on the pressure network in front of you here in profile. And the first question that may come to mind is depth check against what, how does it know what to check the depth against? Of course we've got lines on the profile that represent different surfaces. How does it know what surface to even check depth against? And the answer may surprise you a bit. If I click on a pipe, let's say, and go to pressure pipe properties, under part properties, we'll see a reference surface, and that's what it's checking against. So each individual pipe has a reference surface and when you run the depth check, that's where it determines what to check against.
