Identify key characteristics of surfaces

- [Narrator] Using surfaces in Civil 3D is fundamental, so let's take a look at identifying the key characteristics of surfaces. In this exercise file, you'll see a surface of a roadway and the surrounding area. If I hover over this, you'll see that it is a tin surface and you'll see the border highlighted. The thing to remember is that a surface is just an empty container until information is put into that. Then the surface display style determines what that surface is represented as. In this case, we're looking at two, in 10 foot contours, with the border turned on. If we look at that surface style, we can see some of the other options for components that we can display. The first is points, so once all that information is added to this surface, the points are rendered, and they're represented at cyan crosses. So this is all the points in the triangulated irregular network. If I add the triangles to that, click OK and we'll zoom in, you'll see how all the tin lines connect up with…
