- [Instructor] As we begin to work and learn about feature lines in this chapter, we really have to think of feature lines as very smart 3D polylines. I like to call feature lines 3D polylines on steroids. For example, 3D polylines, you can't have curvature, whereas with feature lines, you can have curvature and yet still keep that vertical geometry as well. Every single vertex containing and x, y and z has segments and a 3D polyline whereas with a feature line you can have grade brakes that only have a z value. So a lot of nuances that are really powerful with a feature line. Now, a feature line can be siteless. They don't have to belong to a site. But, throughout this video, we're going to see the power of allowing them, or working with them within the same container. Now that doesn't mean that all the feature lines in a drawing go in the same site or container, it's simply understanding how to utilize the power of how they interact when they're in the same site.
