Creating surface profiles and profile views
- [Instructor] In Civil 3D there are two different types of profiles that you can create. Surface Profiles, or profiles that are related to sampling a Civil 3D surface, and then you have Layout Profiles, or profiles that you, as the designer, lay out. Let's create our first type, a surface profile in this video. I'm going to open up our exercise file 07_02_SurfaceProfile and in this drawing we have a few alignments. We're going to be focusing in on Kingsley Drive, this yellow alignment up here at the top. Now we can create a surface profile simply from the Home ribbon Create Design panel and you have the profile window there, to choose the two different types of profiles that you'll be creating. Another easy way to do so, is select the alignment that you want to use as your parent to sample or cut the profile from, and the Contextual ribbon on the Launch Pad panel, notice Surface Profile.
