Create a volume surface

- [Instructor] One of the most powerful things that surfaces can do is calculate cuts and fills. Let's look at one way of doing that. I've got two surfaces in this drawing that I like to compare. The first one is this big existing ground surface. It's simply called EG. And then I've got the grading for the road and the lots here. And that surface is called FG final. I want to know what the cut and fill values are, between the two. So what I can do is select any surface in the drawing and that'll bring up my contextual ribbon tab, making it easy to come up here and select volumes dashboard. I'll select that. I'll click the button to create a new volume surface. And then in the dialogue that pops up, I simply type in name for my surface. I'll call this EG FG volume. For the style I'm going to choose one called contours and triangles. And then my base surface will be EG. And my comparison surface will be FG final. As…
