Create a surface profile
- [Instructor] Now that you've learned a little bit about profiles, let's create one. We'll start with a surface profile. To get started, I'll zoom in and click on the Jordan Court alignment. Then up on the ribbon I'll click Surface Profile. That launches the Create Profile from Surface dialog box. Basically, what we're doing here is we're putting together an alignment and a surface, and we're asking Civil 3D to sample points along that alignment taken from the elevations on the surface. So, we're plotting the elevation along the path of the alignment. Now that sounds kind of complicated, but Civil 3D makes it easy for us. All we need to do is choose the alignment, which is Jordan Court, choose the surface that we want to sample along and click Add. And just like that our profile is created.
