Create a data reference

- In the last video, you created data shortcuts for an alignment and a surface. Now let's create references to those objects and create something new from them. We'll start by setting the working folder. So to do that, I want to make sure I'm on the prospector tab of tool space. I'll scroll down, right click data shortcuts and pick set working folder. I want to make sure I set my working folder to the chapter 1203 folder, under exercise files. Once that's selected, I'll pick Select Folder. When I do that, I should be able to expand surfaces and see an existing ground surface listed there. And also expand alignments and centerline alignments and see the main road a alignment there. To create a reference to either one of those objects, I simply right click on it, and pick create reference. That brings up the Create alignment reference dialog.
