- [Man] AutoCAD Civil 3D is a very dependable and stable platform, but like any piece of software, nothing is perfect, and user error always enters in, and so you'll want to make sure that you know where to access your autosave files, for those chances when you do have a crash. So, by default, it's kind of buried deep down in the file system, so let's go to the options menu and let's relocate it to somewhere that's a little bit more convenient to get to. So I'm just going to type in Options at the command line, press Enter. If we look down about halfway, you'll see Automatic Save File Location, if we expand that out, you'll see it's based on your user app data, local temp information. I prefer to have a file right on my desktop that's easy to get to, so with that we need to first create that folder on our desktop, and then we can redirect Civil 3D to that autosave location.
