Using the exercise files

[Instructor] - When you start working with your AutoCAD Architecture Essential Training Course, as usual, you've got the exercise files that you can download. Now as I've mentioned previously, AutoCAD Architecture still uses the DWG file format. Now, what I would suggest though, is don't double click on the DWG file, in the exercise files, once you've downloaded it from the website. Open up your AutoCAD Architecture drawing files through AutoCAD Architecture, because there's some technology in AutoCAD Architecture, in the background, that needs to run with those DWG files. So, let me just show you quickly what I mean. I've AutoCAD Architecture open at the start screen. You can see the start tab there, just below the ribbon, and there's a number of ways that you can open up the DWG files for AutoCAD Architecture. You can go up to the big, red A, which is the application menu. So if I click there like so, I can hover over open and I want to open up a drawing. You don't need to open up a drawing from the cloud or a project. We'll look at projects later. You want to open up a drawing here. So if I click on drawing there, that'll take me to a folder that I used previously, which is my introduction folder, and there's my floor plan DWG file there. That's one way of opening up your exercise file to use with AutoCAD Architecture. I'll just cancel that now. The other way I can do it, I can click on open here, on the quick access toolbar, again, takes me to the previously remembered floor plan DWG like so. I can also, if I want to, go to open files here, on the start screen. That'll open up the same in dialogue box again and as you can see there's the floor plan DWG again. If I click on cancel there to close it, last but not least, if I have recently opened up a DWG file, it shows up in the recent documents, here, so there's the floor plan there. If I click on floor plan there for example, you'll see there that it opens up the most recent DWG file, which is my floorplan.dwg file. Now there's four different ways there to open up a file. I'm hoping you will use one of those. Use one of them, stick to it. Use the one that you're comfortable with and stick to it and you'll find that that's the quickest and easiest way to open up your DWG files with AutoCAD Architecture. And those exercise files, as usual, are on the website available to download and install either on your PC or your laptop to follow along with the videos as we work through our AutoCAD Architecture Essential Training Course.
