Using reverb effects

- [Instructor] Reverb effects have the magical ability to take a sound and place it in a specific location. The name Reverb is actually short for reverberation and it refers to when audio bounces off walls and other surfaces in a room. Every room will have its own unique reverb based on how many surfaces there are, the size of the room and how much those surfaces absorb sound, to name just a few factors involved. Sometimes reverb can get confused with echo and although they're both somewhat similar, they're actually not. The sound of reverb is much more immediate and we perceive it as being equality of original sound whereas echo happens with more of a delay and sound like distinct repetitions. I often use Reverb to give sounds a sense of space and ambience in my mix. And this could be something as straightforward as taking a cleanly recorded sound effect and making sound like it's being recorded in a room or just adding a bit of energy to a voice over.
