- [Instructor] Perhaps the most common goal for a short film is to have it shown in a film festival. Film festivals are a staple of the greater film community, though they do look different from festival to festival. Some festivals like the colossal Sundance Film Festival that takes place yearly in Park City, Utah, take place in a small geographic location, and have constant film screenings over a brief period of time, usually like a few days to a week. Other film festivals, like the local Seattle International Film Festival, or SIFF, as we call it, will take place over a longer period of time, like maybe several weeks or months, and will include sporadic screenings and events scattered throughout that time. Regardless of the film festival, there will usually be a significant event, or two, or three, often at the beginning or the end of the festival.
