Setting clip levels with normalization

- [Instructor] When adjusting the overall gain of your audio files, sometimes you want the loudest peaks of your audio to be a specific level. You can do this very easily using a process called normalization. So for example, with digital audio the loudest anything can be is zero DB. And in this file I have here my highest peak looks like it's about here, so somewhere between minus three and minus six DB, and I want to make this file as loud as possible. Now the quickest way to normalize this file is to select my favorites menu at the top. And I have two options for normalize down here. I can go to minus one DB or minus three DB. I'm going to choose minus one since that's just a fraction under zero DB. And now as you can see my overall gain has been turned up, and if I just zoom in on that highest peak using my navigator here you can see that the highest peak is just a fraction under zero DB.
