Reducing reverb
- [Instructor] Reverb is the result of soundwaves bouncing off walls or other sources and when you're trying to record an interview in a room with a lot of reverb, it can be quite distracting. Like this one here: - [Male on recording] I think it does start at the top, it's that networking piece, because when you network with... - [Instructor] The best way to avoid reverb in your recording is to move the mic as close to your subject as possible and record in smaller spaces with surfaces that absorb reverb, like carpet. But if you're shooting in a location where it's unavoidable, you can help reduce that reverb in your recording, using the de-reverb effect. I should emphasize that this will help you reduce reverb and add more focus to a voice, but if your microphone was a long way from your subject in a very reverberant space like a church, then no effect is going to make it sound like the subject was properly mic'd.
