- [Instructor] Once you've mixed all the individual tracks of your session, it's time to master the whole session. Mastering is the stage when you focus on the final output of your session and give it an overall polish. We'll be looking at two aspects of mastering: dynamics and loudness. For this video, we'll be concentrating on dynamics. I've already gone through each individual track here and set its EQ and its compression, but now that I've combined my dialogue here with my music track, I want to use compression to adjust the dynamics of the the entire session. This will help blend the mix together while also taming any unexpected peaks caused by adding the music. So, what I'm going to do is go down to the very bottom and select my master track. And, this is where the final output of all of these tracks are combined. And, then I'll go over to my effects rack, make sure I'm on my track effects. And, I'll want to add a compression effect to this first slot here. So, I'll just click…
