The long shot

- In this movie, let's cover one of those odd but fairly common shots called the extreme long shot or super wide shot. You know, when the actor looks like they're really, really far away from the camera. Let's go outside, and I'll show you what to do. Here we are on the street in a typical San Francisco neighborhood. If all you wanted was a shot of me like this, then capturing the sound would be pretty standard stuff, probably a shotgun microphone on a boom pole. And, in fact, that's what we're doing right now. Audrey, widen up to we can see. This is Garrett, the sound guy. Say hello, Garrett. - Hello, Garrett. - Nice. If you wanted this wide shot, then Garrett would be in the picture, and that's not gonna work. And if he tries to get out of the picture, he's moving the microphone further away, and that's not gonna work either. You do have some options here. Your best option is probably to use a little microphone called a lavalier that clips right onto the talent like this one. You…
