Color grading

- Color correction and color grading is not the same. Color correction is essentially the process of balancing and matching the shots. Grading, on the other hand, is where we add the look and feel to the film. Having a clear understanding of how the project will look in post will determine many variables, not only in pre-production, but especially during production. Working with an experienced colorist can take a project to a whole different level. To save everybody's time, there are certain steps we can take to prepare the footage for grading. The most obvious one is to have all the information about the footage readily available, not only regarding file format, but how the project was shot, on which cameras, which frame rates, which camera profiles. You get the idea. Now, if the project was shot in RAW or LUT, it is very important to document which LUTs were used on set and on which device.
