- Okay great, let's move onto the second string. So the second string has three notes in the first position, open B, (guitar string vibrates) first fret C, (guitar string vibrates) and third fret D. (guitar string vibrates) Again, that open B on the staff is the middle line of the staff. (guitar string vibrates) The C is the third space on the staff. (guitar string vibrates) And D is the fourth line up on the staff. (guitar string vibrates) So let's try the next example, which moves between those three different notes. Here we go.
