The mute stroke

The mute stroke

- All right, another strumming technique is the mute stroke, and this is where as you strum, with a downstroke usually, you actually put your palm on the strings of the guitar. Okay? So if you just kind of imagine yourself karate chopping the strings, and then you do that at the same time with the pick. So I'm going to do this slow-motion so you can just watch as I play it slowly. (guitar strumming) So it's a good idea just to practice, slowly, just getting that tone. (guitar strumming) And then try this in conjunction with upstrokes. For instance, like this. (guitar music) Let's do the next example, which uses some chords while you're playing this new mute stroke pattern. One, two, three, four. (guitar music)
