- [Narrator] One of the more frustrating things that songwriters come across as they make their way through their careers is this concept that they have been writing songs for a while, they're pitching their songs, they're doing everything they think they're supposed to do and the songs aren't getting cut. I'd like to propose a few things that you should be thinking about if your primary intention is to write songs for other artists to sing. One of the very first things you need to think about is what would an artist want to sing? Here's what I mean by that. When we begin writing songs, we write specifically about what we want to write about. That's wonderful. And if you're very, very lucky, something that you want to write about will also be something that someone else wants to sing about.
