Verbos Complex Oscillator: Overview

(buzzing synth tone) - [Instructor] In the next few movies, we're going to explore adding a so called complex oscillator to our core system. The idea of the complex oscillator comes from the West Coast School of Synthesis, based around the Bulcha machines, where they relied on wave shaping and modulation to add harmonics to a sound, rather than relying on filters to remove harmonics from a sound. But you can also combine the two techniques. We're going to be looking at a Verbos complex oscillator, it's very wide, at 32 HP, but not very deep at all, about 24, 25 millimeters. A good deal of that is the power header, the circuit boards are very slim. It draws 70 milliamps on the plus 12, and 50 milliamps on the minus 12, it does not require plus five volts, and like most complex oscillators, it has two oscillators behind one panel.
