Tuning

- All right, now for tuning. So tuning is very important for the guitar. One great aspect about this instrument is that it's portable, you can take it anywhere. However, different temperatures and humidity will cause the wood to contract and expand and will effect the tuning. So you always have to tune and keep this thing in tune, so one of the best things to do is get an electronic tuner and learn how to use that precisely. It's very simple, it's almost like a video game. You just follow the lights and make sure that the pitches are correct. Ask a friend or you can seek some more advice on that, but I do wanna show you guys, also, how the strings relate to each other so you can tune them, even if you don't have an electronic tuner. And we'll start out by tuning the thickest string to E. (plucks strings) And if you don't have a tuner, you can just tune to my guitar right now. I'll play that pitch one more time. (plucks strings) And then you can press down the fifth fret of that string and that pitch should be the same thing as your open A string, which is the next pitch. (plucks strings) And then the next string, which you can also play to match at the fifth fret of the A string, the next string, open fourth string is D. (plucks strings) And the next string, open G string, which also matches the fifth fret of the D string. This is G. (plucks strings) And the second string is B, which you can also match to the fourth fret of the G string. Here's B. (plucks strings) And then finally, the thinnest E string, which you can match to the fifth fret of the B string. (plucks strings)
