(banjo plays) - You may notice me standing. This is something that really needs to be addressed, especially for beginners, I think mostly because there's a tendency just to be sitting when you're playing. If you're sitting around the house and you're watching videos, and working with a slide or just sitting and playing in front of the television or whatever, a lot of people just sit. At some point, you may need to go to a jam session and suddenly you've gotta put on your banjo and be standing. It's just a whole other thing, standing. When you're sitting, your neck tends to be angled up a little more like this, generally. You can look at the fingerboard, you can see the frets, you can see the inlays and you have a better idea of what you're doing. As soon as you strap it on, the whole thing changes.
