Split strumming

Split strumming

- Cool, so now we're going to check the split strum. All right, a split strum is where you just divide up the three bass strings and the three treble strings, sort of as two independent parts. We're just going to go back and forth between them. When strumming, sometimes you'll hit those with a down stroke, sometimes you'll hit these with an up stroke, but either way, you sort of have to change the angle of your hand, (guitar strumming) so that you're hitting the bass strings with either and up stroke or a down stroke and just focusing on which notes to accent. So let's try that in this next example. This is called I Know How it Feels. One, two, three, four. (guitar music)
