- Signs of silence. So we've learned durations of sound, now for durations of silence. We have an eighth rest, which gets half of a count and we've already learned that a quarter rest gets one count, and a half rest equals two counts and a whole rest equals four counts in four-four time. Also, that whole rest often appears in other time signatures such as getting three counts in three-four time. Alright, so let's get into this rest concept and look at a rift that has some of these rests within it. We'll look at just eighth rests, quarter rests, and half rests within the context of a blues kind of feel. Let's dig in, here we go. (metronome ticking) ♫ One, two ready go ♫ (blues music) Alright, so now let's get into this classic Led Zeppelin sound and this is in the style of Good Times, Bad Times, another classic Zeppelin song, and this one goes through rests so you'll definitely see a whole rest in there.
