("Shady Grove") - Hello folks, there is Shady Grove. The modal Shady Grove, as I like to call it. Someone had a question about the kind of a minorish sounding Shady Grove on the site a while back, and I believe that they meant this kind of a Shady Grove, and it works perfectly in this tuning, where you take, I'm gonna get back to G tuning. All you do is you take the second string up a half step to C what this does Do Re Mi There's the third note of the scale. Do Re Mi And that determines if something's major or minor. If you tune it down a half step There's a G minor chord. Because that third note of the scale determines whether something's major or minor. There's the major back to regular G tuning for the B note on the second string. Now if you take it up to C now you've got the fourth note of the scale on the second string. Do Re Mi Fa One two three four There no longer is a third degree of the scale in this tuning. So it becomes very ambiguous whether it's major or minor, but it…
