Tony teaches the most efficient and productive way to become a better banjo player and get the most out of your time learning. Discussed are what and how to practice as well as ways to break through plateus in your development as a banjo player.
- For the second 15 minutes, I just suggest practicing…something you're currently working on,…either something from here on the site…or if you are actually taking lessons from somebody,…work on that tune.…Anyway, whatever you're currently working on,…work on that for about 15 minutes,…and really get that into your fingers…and into your muscle memory.…Then for the third 15 minutes,…go back and work on old material.…And over time, you're gonna have too many tunes…to remember everything.…I've been playing for 52 years…as we're doing this right now,…and I don't remember all, you know,…there are a bunch of things I don't remember.…
But on some level, they're in your muscle memory.…And the other thing is,…even if you don't remember the tune,…there's maybe a technical thing in that tune…that you had to work through to move to the next level.…And without that, you wouldn't have moved to the next level,…or it might've had to come from another tune later on.…So everything has a place…in moving you forward in your playing.…
