Tony teaches the most efficient and productive way to become a better banjo player and get the most out of your time learning. Discussed are what and how to practice as well as ways to break through plateus in your development as a banjo player.
(lively banjo music)…- I'm going to talk right now about practice techniques…and reaching goals, and people sometimes ask me at workshops…"How should I practice, what should I practice,…"how long should I practice?"…and, there's no one real answer to that.…Some people practice five hours a day,…I know Jens Kruger does something like that,…And other people, you know, most people work,…and don't have a chance, I wrote down a list here:…You have work, you have family, exercise, meditating,…sleeping, walking the dog, shoveling snow,…planting gardenias, eating three square meals a day,…binging on television, et cetera.…
That takes up a large part of your day,…and some people are lucky to get 15 minutes of practice…a day, or even ten minutes.…But I'm saying hypothetically,…let's say you have an hour to practice,…and I'm going to divide this up into four quarters,…15 minutes each.…And that's not the only way you can do it.…I asked Bela Fleck about this…years ago to see how he practiced,…and he said, and I agree with this for sure,…
