Patching in and controlling modular effects
(synthesizer music) - [Instructor] Finally, we're going to talk about adding affects to your modular synth. Now normally, you might have effects outboard to your modular. For example, as part of your mixing system. However, quite often effects modules are available as well with the advantage of having some control voltage inputs, allowing you to, say, use LFOs or envelopes or your controller keyboards to change some of their parameters. Typically, you would patch effects in at the very end of your patch, after your final VCA or after the output of your semi-modular synth. But not always. Also, most effects are monophonic, however, some are stereophonic and you can plug in the left and right outputs separately. So let's experiment with both of those ideas.
