Patching VCAs for alternate outputs

Patching VCAs for alternate outputs

(synthesizer music) - [Instructor] When modular users ask other users, "What do I need? "What should I add to my system?" A lot of people constantly say, "More VCAs." More voltage controlled amplifiers. Well, why? Let's show you a couple reasons why. In this case, I want to do a couple more additions to our basic semi-modular synth here. Maybe I want to replace the filter, or maybe I want to modulate the filter with an oscillator. Let's go through both of those scenarios. Now, in this case, the Moog already has a nice four-pole filter, but say I want to try a two-pole filter for a different sound. Well, we're going to be trying out filters later in this course, but also the Disting has a filter mode. Change the bank to 1B, and mode 3D, in addition to 4A, B, C, and D, are all filters. 3D happens to be what's called a state-variable filter. It's a two-pole filter, but also is constantly variable between low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass. Let's patch it in. I'm going to take, oh, let's…
