MI Braids: Vocal and formant synthesis

MI Braids: Vocal and formant synthesis

- [Instructor] In this movie we're going to explore the Braids Vocal Track Simulations. The first of our vocal like modes, cross fades between a sine wave and a string of pulses which have a very thin sound to them. Here you have the very mellow sine, turn off my modulation for now, and we can go ahead and fade that to a very narrow pulse. And I'll vop it. And then the color control can de-tune it as if you've got multiple oscillators playing at once. I have a cool thin sound. Beyond that prior mode that could cross fade from a sine wave to a single format, raises three additional algorithms focused on vocal synthesis. One of the oldest is the VOSM algorithm. This particular case, the braid's is emulating using three different oscillators that are being re-modulated with a little bit of hard sync to try to make vocal type formats. The A-E-I-O-U sounds we associate with the human vocal tract. Timbre and color affect the tuning of those formats. So right now we're getting almost no…
