MI Braids: Percussion synthesis

(drum beat) - [Instructor] Now, beyond these plucked and blown sounds, we also have struck sounds, like percussion sounds. Sample one percussion sound in here is a bell. Timbre likes on the strings is the damping, color controls how inharmonic the sound is. (piano tune) Very damped. I'm actually going to set up an arpeggio on this one, something pretty broad. (rhythmic tune) Oh, that's kind of cool right there. Very similar to the bell algorithm is the drum algorithm. They're both based on a similar algorithm, but drum is a little less inharmonic than the bell is. Here's drum, here's bell. With drum, timbres are very similar to bell. Timbre is basically the dampening on the drum, from very short to long re-amped. (musical tones) Color controls brightness. If you really crank it up, you almost hear a sort of rattle at the very end of the sound (musical tones) compared to more of a pure tone. Drum is set to, in general, more closely emulate metal drums, but I also think it sounds a bit…
