Getting more expression out of your controller
(steady buzzing tone) - [Instructor] In the previous movie, we compared using the MIDI to CV converter that may be built into your semimodular synth with using a dedicated module and a MIDI controller keyboard. We also showed how to patch pitch control voltage and gate. But as I mentioned, we can do a lot more with this. I've got the mod wheel, I've got these sliders, I've got velocity, and after-touch. Let's play around with some of these. For example, I could take the velocity output and route it to the cut-off of my filter, which harmonics it's removing or filtering out. Again, I'm using a color coded scheme, where white are my sensitive pitch voltages, reds are my insensitive gates, just binary, on-off, yellow is my audio signals, blue is all my other voltages and modulations passing around the system. I've got it going to the filter cutoff right now so that low velocities result in very dull sounds, (low steady tone) and high velocities, (tinny bright tone) result in very bright…
