First fingerpicking patterns

First fingerpicking patterns

- So let's start with your first fingerpicking patterns. We're just gonna work on a pattern that we'll call P-I-M-A that just goes through all the fingers. You're gonna pick P, I, M, and A. And when you pick with the ring finger, you actually do want to move the pinkie with it. So let's do that pattern, and move between C, G, and D. Your fingers are gonna always play the three thinnest strings, but your thumb is gonna move around to the bass note of each chord. Here we go. One, two, three, four. (playing guitar) All right, let's try a variation on that pattern, this is gonna be P, A, M, I. So the fingers are just gonna go backwards. Let's try this together, here we go. One, two, three, four. (playing guitar)
