- Here's your next vocal exercise. (piano chord plays) I'll play and sing it for you first. (vocalizing) (piano notes play) The construction of this exercise again, is to get that flexing and that the muscle change that needs to occur with the vocal folds so that it can happen very smoothly, like if you're a dancer and you're working on knee bends and you've never done it before and your legs, your leg muscles are there enough to walk, maybe jump or something, but you, you know, they need conditioning in a certain way so we're using these exercises to condition the muscle actions necessary. They're small, the muscle actions internally here are small, but they all need to talk to each other in the right way and just find what their natural functions are.
