Jeannie teaches an embellishment exercise that consists of four sounds (lip trills, ooo's, ohh's and ahh's) that are done back to back to a particular melody, and after completion, the exercise is repeated in a different key for variation.
- This embellishment uses four different sounds.…So we'll go through it, and go through it,…and go through it, and go through it,…each one with a different sound that I'll give you…and then we go on into the next key.…(piano music)…It starts with lip trills.…If you can't do lip trills,…then just choose one of the other vowels.…(piano music)…(lip trills)…♫ Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh…♫ Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh…♫ Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh ♫…Alright.…
Now I'll give it to you slowly.…(slow piano music)…Remember that it's common to have embellishments…that are three notes connected to three notes…connected to three notes, or four.…So, we're taking this pattern…and then connecting it to the next…connecting it to the next.…(piano music)…Many embellishments have…an uh, an oh, an ah, an a.…
Those are pretty much the common sounds.…Usually not lip trills,…but we're using lip trills to kind of initiate things,…so as long as you can do it,…it's a really cool way of starting it.…So again, it goes like this.…
