- Example seven is what I call the Strummer. The Beach Strummer. This is when, for instance you have an acoustic guitar and you want to accompany yourself in a louder way. Maybe without a band, just strumming away. So, I'm going to play it once against the backing track. Let's give it a listen, shall we? (blues guitar over backing track) One, two, three, four (blues guitar over backing track) Alright. That's fun, let's break this one down. You're going to start by playing an E chord. (E note) E and then B, five, two. And then open four. (guitar chord) First fret, third string, or three, one. (guitar chord) And then the top two strings are open. (guitar chord) Now let's talk about the right hand in the strumming. You'll see some X's in there. Well the X's are what they call ghost notes. Or notes you don't actually play, but you keep your right hand moving, to mark the time to make sure you don't fall behind or get ahead. So what I'm going to do is play the chords together. (guitar…
