Example 12: "Pay the Man"
- Alright, here's a vintage classic blues rock rhythm. Which is as relevant today as it was 50 years ago. You'll hear it in a minute, I'm going to play it through once, first two bars, four bars rather, it'll be a turnaround, and I'll count it in for ya. Here we go. (blues rock guitar playing) One, two, three, four. (blues rock guitar playing) Let's break this one down. Key of C. C, and G, or six eight and five ten. You're going to play those two notes twice, and then add a note on the fifth string, at the 12 fret. Play that one twice. Now, my right hand, I am muting the bass strings with the heel. So I get more of a percussive sound rather than a ringy (tinny guitar playing). Although both work well. Depends on whatever the backing is. So... (thumping guitar music) All down strokes. (thumping guitar music) Right? And of course for the F and G, I'm moving that same shape over to the next set of strings. And I play it up here, it's a little easier to play without having to shift way…
