(techno music) - [Narrator] Now, state variable designs typically have a low pass and high pass outputs. So most people put controls on their filters to allow you to continuously blend from one to the other with a notch in between. So let's hear that effect. (vibrating buzz) Hear the high frequencies come in from the high pass filter. (ascending vibrating buzz) You see more detail appear in the wave form. You also see the spectrograph display where the high harmonics are appearing. (ascending vibrating buzz) Now we're moving to almost pure high pass. (ascending vibrating buzz) (techno notes) And since our envelope is starting at a high voltage, then coming down, it's taking the cut-off frequency, starting high, so not many harmonics getting through. And then as the voltage lowers, the cut off lowers, and the harmonics are allowed through. (techno notes) That's why you might even want an inverted envelope when you're playing around with a high pass filter. Just go ahead and dial this…
