Doepfer A-127 Triple VCRF: Formants

- Now we're going to look at a very different type of filter. One that has multiple banpass filters in it. Often referred to as a resonance or format filter. Sometimes they'll also be called resonators. The idea is not so much to act like the low pass filter in your synth voice, but instead to shape the overall sound akin to the way the acoustics of a room or the acoustics of a pipe or the acoustics of even your vocal track may shape the formats and the resonant peaks in the final sound. What were going to be using here is a Doepfer A-127 Triple Voltage Controlled Resonance Filter. Slightly misnamed, the resonance is not what's voltage controlled, it's the frequency of each band that can be voltage controlled. We're going to have a lot of fun with that feature in the next movie. It consists of three two pole or 12 db proctiv bandpass filters.
