Country and bluegrass flatpicking

Country and bluegrass flatpicking

- All right, now for country and bluegrass flatpicking. So picking individual notes is a very important thing. You guys have been working on a lot of strumming now, but for picking individual notes, we're gonna have similar rhythmic and technical challenges. So basically what we're gonna try to do here is do a warm up to get both your left hand and your right hand coordinated. The first thing we're gonna do is just a group of four. Just literally going one, two, three, four down all six strings. And just alternate pick this. So you'll play down for the first note, up for the second finger, down for the third finger and up for the fourth finger. Here we go. One, two, three, four. (guitar music) All right, now let's check out an old time American fiddle tune. This is called Sail Away Ladies. And you're gonna play single notes and we also do a few eighth notes. Remember to alternate pick when you get to those sections. Here we go. (guitar music)
