The Intermediate version of this very popular Bluegrass standard. In this second version, Bryan expands on the importance of maintaining a smooth, consistent picking hand motion along with hammer-ons and pull-offs being played by the fretting hand to create the overall feel of this tune.
- Here in the intermediate curriculum,…we're gonna look at Blackberry Blossom.…More or less, probably most people play it.…This is a real standard tune for flat pickers.…In the basic curriculum, we sort of pared it down…a little bit to more essential elements,…melodically speaking, and here we're kind of looking at…a real standard way to play Blackberry Blossom.…Still recognizing some challenge, and learning,…basically, looking at the simpler version,…where a lot of these embellishments come from.…And again, what I like about what we can do here…on the site is recognize ways to…look at variations of fiddle tunes,…you know, we don't have some hundreds of year old manuscript…that shows us the exact way to play Blackberry Blossom.…
