In this two part analysis, Bryan expands on his earlier basic version of “Big Sciota” with a number of embellishments. He incorporates hammer-ons, pull-offs and triplets in the A section. There is a focus on keeping the transitions between open string and close positions smooth and strong.
- Alright, so moving into the second ending.…Now we're gonna look at another shift here.…Back up to this shape.…And there's our F shape.…Using that open string…it falls with the melody here that…that's more of a simpler melody.…That's kind of an odd shift…to go from one note…and play the next, very same note with the same finger…sliding back.…
So we're gonna use an open E string…to provide us a little, just a pivot point.…You know, adds one more note into the eighth note string…but it's one, and two, and three, and four, and down beat.…So that would be something to isolate…and practice right there.…Now we've got a tricky little move right here.…We're gonna actually play one and with one finger,…the pinkie.…
So you'll see a shift of a slide right there,…five to seven.…Now we've got our index finger…on the third fret G.…We're gonna play the F sharp here with our pinkie.…And then play an open E…to a ring finger on the D,…third fret, second string.…It's a real tricky move.…
And that puts us back into that same position…that we saw in the A section,…
